The Falcon Journal

The Falcon Journal is a student-led publication that empowers students to express their interest in journalism as a class and as a subject. Students are led through three rounds of different articles: reporting, opinion, and student. Reporting involves covering current events in a non-biased way, opinion allows writers freedom of topic and the ability to express their voice, and student employs writers to address topics relevant to Scripps Ranch High School through interviews with associated students and staff. Writers are walked through the basics needed to approach these different types of writing, and upon production of an article, receive suggestions from student-editors on how to strengthen their writing. The Falcon Journal is a product of its dedicated writers and editors, something journalism students take great pride in. Lets falcon go!

Meet our editors

Leon

Hi I'm Leon!!  I love being outside and soaking up the SoCal sun whenever I get the chance.  I love music and currently gig around SD with various groups and am in the studio at times. Although I have to play lots of styles, jazz and metal are some of my favorites.  I plan to major in music and specialize in jazz drumset and vibes.  I also really enjoy repairing technology and computers. I joined journalism because I think having a voice is so important.  I really enjoy talking and writing about current events and issues.  Taking a step back in today's fast-paced world to look at things helps to see things for what they really are.  As an editor, I revise and give feedback on writer's work.  I like talking and getting to know others and there perspectives.  Hope you enjoy the paper, peace!!

Ivy

My name is Ivy Wong, and I’m a senior here at Scripps Ranch High School. Post-high school, I am looking to attend a 4-year university and major in political science, with a possible minor in journalism. This is my second year being a part of journalism, and I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to be an editor! Journalism is such an important subject, and one of my favorite aspects of it is that the things we learn here in class are very much applicable to the real world. I love the close-knit community we’ve been able to build this year and the level of devotion each writer has to their craft.
